RUNNERS’ CLUB OF GREATER CINCINNATI BOARD MEETING MINUTES
March 7, 2010
Bob Roncker's Running Spot, Cincinnati, OH

Present: Todd Hofacre, Ryan Woolley, Tom Glasscock, Julia Glasscock, Gina Meyers, Ed Hunter

Meeting came to order at 12:15 PM.

The board approved Gina Meyers to be the new club secretary.

Meeting Minutes: Approved from February 4, 2010.

Financial Report: Ryan reported that club balance went up, with no outstanding checks. Half of the amount ($400.00) for booth at expo has been paid, remaining amount is due in April. Todd went over his expenses for January and February. The biggest expense was the newsletter sent out to members. Board approved his expenses. Went over P & L for Valentine's Day Race. Race made $668 for the club after NKU Split. Profit less than last year due to cost of T-Shirts and Pizza.

Membership: Todd reported the club has 73 members that are current and in good standing. A reminder will go out the beginning of April to renew memberships. Members will be given 90 days (until June 1, 2010) to pay dues. Discussion to raise membership dues for next year tabled for next meeting.

Newsletter: Todd hopes to have newsletter out by Flying Pig. Featured runner will be Melanie Miles. About 300 copies will be printed to cover members and expo.

Website: Todd asked for ideas to add new features to the club website and blog. Tom suggested adding a calculator for pace times, as seen on the ORRRC website. We may have two new advertisers for the club website, each generating $300 for 2010. Google ad on blog contributed $190. Todd discussed the possibility of getting a Facebook page in addition to the Facebook group.

Social/Annual Meeting: Will be held April 12, 2010 at Swaim Park in Montgomery starting at 6:30 PM for a social gathering. Meeting will start at 7:00 PM. Notice will be sent out to current members in April along with their membership cards.

Race Reports:

Valentine's Day Race-recap: Cash sponsors, a new pizza vendor, and a new t-shirt vendor may be needed for next year to contain costs. Location and space for packet pick-up this year was too small. Todd mentioned possibly having packet pick-up at NKU next year. More volunteers at finish line for pull-tags are needed. Ryan asked to re-measure the race course to meet the full 2 miles; would like a certified course.

Heart Mini Marathon: Board voted not to have a Club booth at Expo this year due to finances and the club getting a booth at the Flying Pig. Todd has reserved two rooms at the Westin for the Club's Heart Mini-Suite.

Flying Pig Marathon Expo & Waterstop: Waterstop at Mile 22 will not have a DJ this year, so club will need to provide own music. Volunteers needed for 2 shifts on Fri., April 30, and 3 shifts on Sat., May 1st for the Flying Pig expo. At least two people are needed for each shift. Information is needed for group runs.

Memorial Day Race: We have approval from the Hamilton Co. Park District and Cincinnati Recreation Commission to hold the event at Armleder Park. Course is still marked. There are 150-200 runners anticipated for the race. Technical t-shirts will cost approximately $7.50/shirt. Todd will get a flyer together soon to be sent out.

Race Committees: Todd is looking to set up a race committee to plan the various club races like the 10-10-10 race. More to follow on this.

Group Runs: Warmer weather may improve attendance at group runs. The Ft. Thomas group may be moved to downtown to see if there is more interest among members. The Club will try this for a few months, starting in April. The Hyde Park group currently has 3-6 people on a regular basis in attendance.

Training Programs: Todd discussed possibility of holding programs for various Club and non-Club races throughout the year. A certified coach will be needed. Julia and Gina briefly mentioned the RRCA certification course coming to Cincinnati the weekend of the Flying Pig, April 30th & May 1st. Interested candidates may check the RRCA website for more information.

Seminars: The Board discussed ideas for this year, and would like to plan at least one seminar per quarter. The Board also discussed where to hold these seminars; possibilities are the Clifton Rec. Center and Cincinnati State.

Merchandising: The Board discussed color ideas for a new club technical t-shirt for 2010 with the Club logo on front, and "We Run the City" on back. We will hope to have 50 ready for the Flying Pig Expo ($600.-$700).

Miscellaneous: Ed shared a few thank you notes from scholarship recipients, and made the suggestion that the Board submit scholarship materials in October.

Next Board Meeting: To be held Thursday, April 8th at 7:00 PM at the Clifton Rec. Center.

Meeting adjourned at 1:40 PM.
